KINGSTON: Minister of Culture, Gender, Affairs, Entertainment and Sport Olivia Grange, has urged new president of the Jamaica Football Federation, Michael Ricketts, to put the spotlight on grassroots development. Ricketts won election at the weekend to complete the term of the late JFF president, Captain Horace Burrell. In a congratulatory message to the new JFF boss, Grange expressed confidence in his ability to lead Jamaica’s football “at a critical time of change”. In calling on Ricketts to pay particular attention to talent development Grange said: “Without a strong grass-roots programme, we will not sufficiently unearth and develop talent that will lead to exceptional results for Jamaica at the high performance level.” Minister Grange said she looked forward to an early meeting with the new president to discuss ideas to develop the beautiful game.
